It Must Be Morpeth Incorporated Photography Competition General Terms & Conditions


As part of the Morpeth Bicentennial celebrations It Must Be Morpeth Incorporated will be holding its first ever Morpeth Photography Competition.

The essence of the competition is to Show us what you love about Morpeth: It could be a place that you visit, it could be your grandma’s sideboard, it could be your favourite shop or favourite breakfast dish at your favourite Morpeth cafe, it could be your favourite family photo taken 60 years ago, it could be the avenue of trees or ducks at the Common – it can be anything about Morpeth. The only criteria is that the photo must be taken in, or it must be a photo of or about Morpeth.

First prize is $500 and this will be judged by a panel including: Leighsa Cox Professional Photographer and Gerry Bobsien Gallery Director Maitland Regional Art Gallery.

There will also be a $200.00 People's Choice award

Your photo must be added to Instagram #morpethphotocompetition to be in the running to win this competition.

Prior to final judging - the top 5 Judges' choice photos will be printed and put on display in locations in Swan Street Morpeth.

The top 3 people's choice photos will also be printed and put on display.

All photos will be judged on originality, composition and storytelling ability you could also consider the following: -


· Visual design

· Color and lighting

· Originality of a concept

· Humour

· Unique message delivery

· Commercial appeal

· Inspiration

· Specific social impact


The winner of the People Choice award will be based on the most liked photo on the #morpethphotocompetition Instagram# page.

This competition will run from the 15th June 2022 right through until midnight on the 31st October 2022.

The winners will be announced during the Morpeth Bicentennial Weekend Celebrations.

All photos entered in this competition will become the property of It Must Be Morpeth Incorporated and may be used for ongoing promotional purposes, wherever possible the photographer will be credited for their image.

If you are taking a photo of a very old photograph, you might need permission by the owner of the original photo, if you are taking a photo of people or of somebody’s private property, you may also need permission by the owner.

Business owners of It Must Be Morpeth Incorporated are not eligible to win this competition.

This competition has been made possible by the Maitland City Council Bicentenary of Morpeth Small Grants program.
